The final project workshop in Tenneville brought together feedstock suppliers and represantatives of the waste and recycling industry as well as experts from research and development to dicuss the new results and perspectives of the innovative CAFIPLA concept including a live demonstration of the CAFIPLA pilot plant.
The market assessment details the high relevance and impact of biowaste-derived materials in an expanding bioeconomy and demonstrates how novel value chains and markets are created from biowaste by the CAFIPLA project. The CAFIPLA technology presents a radically new approach to biowaste pretreatment via two integrated platforms to achieve maximum valorisation into bioproducts and consequent creation of new bioeconomic value chains.
Is there more to it than biogas and fertilizer? The webinar jointly organised by CAFIPLA and BioBall on Dec 5, 2022 presented new approaches by TECNALIA, DBFZ & UFZ, THM Gießen and DECHEMA.
In December 2022, the podcast series “CAFIPLA – From biowaste to bioproducts” was released. The four episodes present the CAFIPLA products lactic acid, MCCAs, microbial protein and fibre-based materials.

CAFIPLA was represented in person twice by Annika from BOKU at Abfallwirtschaftstagung (Waste Management Conference) in Wels, Austria in May as well as at the International Conference on Renewable Resources and Biorefineries (RRB), which took place in Bruges, Belgium in June.
ACHEMA is the world’s largest exhibition for the process industry and in this context a CAFIPLA workshop was held to introduce the participants to the topic of biomass valorisation.
The workshop, which took place at IDELUX Environment in Belgium, was a great gathering of CAFIPLA partners, stakeholders and researchers. The highlight of this meeting was the visit of the CAFIPLA pilot site, where the pilot reactor was later on implemented.
The CAFIPLA video introduces the general concept of the project and sets it in context with current challenges both at global and local levels.
The CAFIPLA consortium is going to meet in our coordinator’s home city of Vitoria-Gasteiz (Spain) in northern Spain for their 5th General Assembly meeting.
